Well it looks like spring has finally sprung! We took a drive this weekend over Western Gateway Bridge (by Jumping Jacks) and Freemans Bridge (by the Lighthouse) and it looks like the river is free of ice!!!!
Tentatively docks are scheduled to go in Saturday March 27th. Once I get more information, about specifics, I will let you know. We’ll need to have all hands on deck to get the docks in and the boathouse ready for the spring season.
Speaking of spring…. We are wrapping up our 2020 – 2021 winter indoor training season. There are a couple of weeks left and we have a couple of spots open. If you are interested in hoping on the erg for a little spring prep, this is a good opportunity. How you can join us…

Sessions are $10 each. At the end of the indoor season, I will send you an “invoice”.
We will have a spring season; what it will look like is still to be determined. If COVID protocols prevent us from rowing Eights right away, we will have to wait until the river conditions allow small boats. BHRA follows the 90 degree rule of thumb (combined air and water temperatures adding up to 90 degrees before singles and pairs can go on the water). This morning the water temperature at Freemans Bridge was 35! We also have to consider the river flow. Generally the spring flow is too high for small boats. For those that have rowed with us in the spring knows what that means…. You shove away from the dock and you have already floated past the marina before you even take a stroke.
Once I can get a more firm start date for the spring, I’ll send out information. Generally it has been the second week of April.
