Free Rowing Clinic / Learn to Row Day – June 19th

Please help spread the word! Have your family and friends who have sparked an interest in rowing come to the boathouse for a 90 minute introduction to our world. This includes a tour/history of our program, quick erg lesson, review of the boat and then an hour on the water with our Coaches.

There are sessions at 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00 AM and an opportunity to secure a seat ahead of time: http://bhrow.com/learn-to-row

Volunteers! In order to make this the best experience for our new rowers, we need your help!

  • Parents/Masters
    • Seeking 2-3 to assist with registration and collecting waivers – email me if interested and your time availability, we can always do shifts. Registration will be 8:45-11:00.
  • Athletes
    • Mods/HS/Masters/Alum – in the boathouse, assisting with the erg lessons, giving one on one attention to our participants – up to 15 each hour, 9, 10, 11. Lots of down time in between, ability to hop on the water also.
    • HS/Masters/Alum – on the water, confident coxswains and helpful rowers – to help the participants in and out of the boats, give them tips and tricks on the water
      • Aiming for 3 boats on the water at 9:30, 10:30, 11:30 – 3 coxswains and around 12 rowers each hour. No breaks in between sessions for the water portion but hopefully we’ll have enough people to swap in and out.

Here is how the day will play out:

  • 8:30-45ish AM – Setup and greet first session visitors
  • 9:00 AM – First Session Begins with a tour and quick erg lesson (coxswains and rower volunteers begin to setup boats coaching launches)
    • 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM – First group is brought down to the docks for an hour on the water.
  • 10:00 AM – Second Session Begins
    • 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM – Hour on the water
  • 11:00 AM – Third Session Begins
    • 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM – Hour on the water
  • 12:30 PM – Coxswains and rowers bring boats up and put away launch gear.

Please contact me with any questions – but in the meantime, please help us spread the word about our awesome sport! Donica danderson@bhrow.com . Thank you!!
